Any product intended for use in play by those aged 14 or younger are considered toys. Toys are legislated by the new approach Toy Directive 88/378/EC and are required to meet the essential requirements in Annex 1 of this Directive and to be CE marked. To achieve this, toys must comply with the relevant parts of the EN71 standard.

ForthTox can advise on the relevant parts of EN71 which apply to your products and conduct toxicological risk assessments for inclusion in your product files as support for due diligence. ForthTox can also advise on other potentially applicable legislation such as the Food Imitations, Cosmetics or Detergent Directives.

If your company would like assistance with any toxicological support for toy development then please contact us at ForthTox:
